Michael has been passionate about working with dogs since his earliest memories. He offers a lifetime of broad dog experience. With years of work experience in the veterinary field, Michael is well-versed in canine health and its effect on behavior. He began offering freelance training services to dogs of all shapes and sizes in middle school. It was a natural progression to launch District Canine LLC as a full-time dog training business, serving the DC-metro area.
Michael's approach to training focuses on establishing a clear understanding of both the owner's desires and the dog's needs. He seeks to empower owners to achieve confidence utilizing science-based positive reinforcement methods. After working with over 300 dogs across the country and abroad since launching District Canine full-time in 2016, Michael is confident in his approach to help accomplish owner's goals in an effective manner. In addition to private in-home training, Michael offers board and train programs through his partnership with District Dogs, a premier DC dog daycare and boarding business.
Michael lives right by the very dog-friendly Meridian Hill Park in Northwest DC. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from George Mason University and is a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and the German Shepherd Dog Club of America. He is a media contributor The Canine Chronicle dog magazine and shows both his own dogs and client dogs in AKC conformation shows. Michael breeds AKC Great Danes and German Shepherd Dogs in conjunction with several breeding partners in the DC area.
